Why aren’t you talking to your inner child?

Why Aren’t You Talking to Your Inner Child?

There is a little girl inside you who is still waiting to be remembered.

Not fixed.

Not analysed.

Not judged.

Remembered.

The part of you that existed before the world told you who you should be. Before you learned to shrink yourself, to please others, to be responsible for everyone else, to silence your needs or become who you thought you needed to be.

She is still there.

And I wonder… why aren’t you talking to her?

Connecting with your inner child doesn’t have to be complicated or heavy. In fact, I believe it can become one of the most beautiful little rituals you practise every day.

I do this myself.

Every day I check in with her.

Sometimes I sit quietly and ask, “How are you today?”

Sometimes I journal to her.

Sometimes I remember her as she was — innocent, curious, wild, imaginative, sensitive and completely herself.

Sometimes I simply place my hand on my heart and remind her:

I see you.

I hear you.

You are safe with me.

I won’t abandon you.

There is something incredibly powerful about cultivating a relationship with this part of yourself.

Because your inner child carries so much of your innocence. Your wonder. Your capacity for joy. Your deepest needs. And often, the parts of you that were hurt, overlooked or never fully heard.

When you begin listening, you begin discovering.

You might notice where you still seek approval.

Where you are afraid to speak.

Where you over-give.

Where you don’t allow yourself to receive.

Where you are still carrying an old belief that you are not enough.

And instead of judging yourself for these things, you can meet them with compassion.

This is where healing begins.

If you’ve never connected with your inner child before…

Start very simply.

Find five quiet minutes.

Close your eyes and imagine yourself as a little girl. You don’t need to force a particular age or memory. Let whatever comes, come.

Look at her.

Notice her.

Ask her:

What do you need from me today?

Then listen.

You might write whatever comes into your journal. You might draw. You might sit in the garden. You might listen to a song from your childhood. You might make yourself something nourishing. You might do something that brings you a sense of freedom, softness or delight.

The ritual itself isn’t the important part.

The relationship is.

And like any relationship, it deepens through consistency.

Five minutes every day can become profound.

Because the more you connect with her, the more you begin to understand yourself.

And from that place of connection, something beautiful happens.

You stop living only from the wounds of your past and begin making choices from a deeper, more loving relationship with yourself.

You can pause.

You can ask, What does she need? What do I need? What would feel good, nourishing and true today?

And then you can choose.

From there, you can begin to manifest the life you actually desire — not from a place of proving, performing or chasing, but from a place of wholeness.

Your inner child isn’t something you need to leave behind.

She is a part of you that deserves to come home.

So today, go and find her.

Sit with her.

Talk to her.

Listen to her.

And most importantly…

let her know you’re not going anywhere.
